Welcome to 2021 where pretty much everything has gone digital. Online or app dating is one of the most common ways young singles meet. Online shopping is booming like never before. And you can even purchase your groceries online and have them delivered to your doorstep. Our world is going virtual and the world of fitness has followed this trend.
Physically going to the gym used to be the main way people exercised, worked with a personal trainer, and achieved their fitness goals, but that’s changing. This is especially true because the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many gym doors to close temporarily, and some permanently. Closed gyms seem to scream, “Stay at home in your pajamas, sit on the couch, and binge watch some Netflix.” So where does that leave you as someone who is looking to get motivated to workout?
5 Ways For How to Get Motivated to Workout
Ok, honesty time here. Even I am not always motivated to workout… and it’s what I do for a living! So, do not feel bad if you find yourself asking Google, “How to motivate myself to exercise?” or “How to motivate myself to workout at home?” I’ve asked myself the very same questions. And I’ve found some really great answers I’m excited to share with you.
1. Get Motivated to Workout With an Online Workout Program
The most effective way to get motivated to workout, especially at home, is to invest in an online fitness program. When you invest in something you make it a priority in your life and will be more likely to stick with it.
The Ashley Lane App is perfect for this. With new upper and lower body workouts posted every week, this app keeps me motivated to help you stay motivated! Plus, you get more than just workouts written for you. You get ME! Your real-life, virtual personal trainer.
2. Get Motivated to Workout By Finding an Accountability Partner
Everything is more fun with friends, including fitness. Not only does it make the workouts themselves more enjoyable, but it is also a great way to stay motivated.
With the Ashley Lane App, it’s easy to make virtual fitness friends with the Zoom group training classes. Or grab a physical friend and have them sign up as well! Then, use the app to keep yourself accountable and, after each workout, “check” that you completed it. Don’t forget to head over to the private group chat within the app to cheer others on, too!
3. Get Motivated to Workout By Making a Plan and Sticking to It
You know this already… “fail to plan, plan to fail.” If you don’t make working out a priority, it probably won’t happen. It’s as simple as that. To stay motivated to workout, you need to come up with a plan. Ask yourself:
- Will I go to a local gym (if it’s open), or will I find an online fitness program?
- Do I want a personal trainer, group workouts, or both?
- How many days a week do I want to workout?
- How many days a week will I probably actually workout? (Don’t overcommit! That is an easy way to fail fast.)
- Do I want to workout in the morning, afternoon, or evening?
- What are my fitness goals, and what is my “why?”
Once you know your answers, find a program you love, make a plan, and stick to it. This is even easier to do when the plan is created for you! With the Ashley Lane App, you get a step-by-step workout plan written for you by a personal trainer (me!). This means you can just show up and do the workout anytime that works for you without any guesswork. I do everything I can to set you up for success!
4. Get Motivated to Workout With New Fitness Clothes
So, if you’ve followed me on Instagram for any amount of time, you’ve probably noticed I love trying out new gym clothes. However, it’s not just for the pretty bold prints and matching leggings and tops. Investing in new fitness clothes is also an investment in your fitness journey. There is something so motivating about feeling good and confident while you workout. It not only makes for a better workout in the moment, but it also helps you stay motivated and excited to stay consistent for the long run. 5. Get Motivated to Workout With the Best Fitness Products
There are a ton of awesome bodyweight exercises that don’t require any fitness equipment. But to truly reach and exceed your goals, you’re going to need to create a nice little home gym for yourself. Start small by purchasing a yoga mat and some ankle and wrist weights to add a little more comfort and challenge to your exercises. Then, step it up a notch and purchase heavier weights to really get that toned look you’re after. You can check out all of the home gym products I recommend here!
