What is an Online Fitness Coach? Benefits of Online Workouts

Online fitness coach, personal training, virtual personal trainer, online workouts, workout app, fitness app

If you…

  • Are a mom who doesn’t have the time to workout, especially if you have to leave the house to do it…
  • Feel intimidated by large, public gyms, so you don’t go even (though you pay for a monthly membership in hopes that someday you will)…
  • Have looked into hiring a personal trainer but haven’t found someone at your local gym you connect with…
  • Tried working out at home but don’t know how to get motivated or what new exercises to try…
  • Don’t want to workout for 1-2 hours 7 days a week in order to accomplish your fitness goals…

Then, an online fitness coach is exactly what you need.

What is an Online Fitness Coach?

When you think of a personal trainer, what comes to mind? Most people think of someone standing next to them while they workout in a typical gym setting. They meet with a trainer once or twice a week for their scheduled session. The trainer tells them what exercises to do and cheers them on along the way. While this is a more traditional route to personal training, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best option for everyone. Online fitness coaching provides people with more opportunities to experience the benefits of a personal trainer in a way that is comfortable for them.

An online fitness coach provides fitness and nutrition information virtually. Personally, I developed the Ashley Lane App so my clients have an easy way to stay connected and on track with their fitness goals. It’s where I upload new video workouts each week, track your progress, cheer you on, and answer any questions you have at any time.

What Does an Online Fitness Coach Do?

A personal trainer gets to know you and your fitness goals and designs a program to help you meet and achieve them. This is true for both in-person and online fitness trainers. However, in many ways, an online fitness coach offers more to their clients than a physical personal trainer can.

Personally, I only see my in-person personal training clients two times a week. With virtual training, I can write online workouts for you to do 5 days a week. You are also able to ask me questions through the app anytime you need, not just during your training sessions. There is so much additional support and information provided when I become your online fitness coach.

An Online Fitness Coach Offers More Help and Communication

With an in-person personal trainer, you typically have 1-3 training sessions each week. Outside of those 30-50 minute sessions, you don’t have access to your trainer to ask questions or receive support, encouragement, and education. With an online fitness coach, you do.

An Online Fitness Coach Offers More Flexibility

With an in-person personal trainer, you go to a physical gym or training studio to exercise at a scheduled time. With an online fitness coach, you get to workout from the convenience of your own home when it works for you. With the Ashley Lane App, you not only have access to new workouts each week, but you can also join LIVE group trainings via Zoom for a more scheduled approach if that works best to keep you motivated and accountable. Plus all of the Total Body HIIT Zoom workouts are saved and uploaded into your On-Demand workout library, so you can do them on your own time and repeat them anytime you like.

An Online Fitness Coach Offers Community

Many online fitness coaches build a community with their clients, so you not only get to interact with your coach but you get to be part of a community of like-minded people who are also working to achieve their fitness goals. This is definitely something missing from traditional in-personal training. (Side note: we’d love for you to join the ALFitCrew.)

The 5 Main Benefits of Working with an Online Fitness Coach?

Some people like having an in-person, scheduled training session to attend and working out in a gym setting. However, for those who are looking for more flexibility and accountability, you’ll love the 5 main benefits of working with an online fitness coach.

1. You Get to Choose from the Best Fitness Coaches Out There

While there may be some really good personal trainers at your local gym, your choices are still limited. With online fitness training, your coach doesn’t have to live in the same city, state, or even country as you! This means you not only get to choose the best of the best, but you also get to find someone that you really connect with.

Your fitness journey is an extremely personal and important part of your life. It is essential to find an online fitness coach that you like and who adds value to your life through the content they share. Not every coach is right for every person. That’s why I offer a free trial on my Ashley Lane App. You get to try and out and see if what I offer fits within your lifestyle and goals. If so, great! If not, there are other amazing online trainers out there to choose from!

2. You Get Access to Hundreds of Online Workouts

Unless you write down every exercise you do at your training session, it can be hard to remember how to perform a particular exercise or the best muscles to train together. With an online fitness coach, you don’t have to worry about this. For example, the Ashely Lane App has a library of workouts and exercises so you can easily train on your own without feeling lost or unsure of what to do. Plus, it means you’ll never get bored because there is always a new exercise to try, and you can go back and do past workouts you loved.

3. You Can Easily Stay Connected and Train on the Go

Need to go out of town for work? Visiting family for a week? Going on vacation? Have a busy schedule and don’t want to sit in traffic to and from the gym? Your fitness routine doesn’t have to suffer! With an online fitness coach, you can train when and where it works best for you.

4. You Get to Be Part of a Fitness Community

The online fitness community is amazing! From sharing the latest fitness trends to keeping each other motivated and accountable, a community provides encouragement and accountability that you just don’t get doing 1:1 personal training sessions at your local gym.

5. You Don’t Have to Break the Bank for an Online Fitness Coach

A personal training session at a popular chain gym like Lifetime Fitness, Gold’s Gym, or 24 Hour Fitness costs anywhere from $60-$110 per session. This is on top of the cost of your monthly gym membership. Even if you only saw a personal trainer once a week, it would cost you around $340 per month. Online fitness coaching is way more cost-effective than this. Plus, there aren’t any limits on how often you access your personalized workout plan and exercises.

Take the Ashley Lane App for example. You get…

  • New upper and lower body workouts every week
  • A detailed training program that includes cardio recommendations
  • Your progress monitored and reviewed by me daily to help you stay on track
  • A personalized dashboard where you can see your workouts, results, and metrics
  • A personalized workout calendar with how-to videos and modifications to meet you where you are in your fitness journey
  • Body stat tracking to see all the progress you are making
  • Hundreds of workout videos showing how to do exercises with proper form
  • Accountability and community from me and others just like you 24/7
  • Free live Zoom workouts monthly

You get all of this and more for less than $100 monthly.
